Here's what you need to know right now as voters head to the polls Tuesday for the midterm election:
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for the vote, with Republicans needing a net gain of 39 to take control. In the Senate, 37 of 100 seats are to be decided. While there is no direct bearing on the White House, the midterm elections are seen as a test of the popularity of President Obama and his handling of the economy. • The Missouri secretary of state's website is having "connectivity" issues, and voters cannot search their registration status or determine their polling place,
Laura Egerdal, spokeswoman for the secretary of state's elections division, told CNN that, despite problems with its search function, the registration database was fine and that "it was more of a problem in a few counties and separate jurisdictions like Kansas City. It's now working somewhat."
She said they're still able to search the "old-fashioned way" and she is not aware of any major delays or anyone being denied a chance to vote.
KMOV suggested voters can check their registration by calling 1-800-NOW-VOTE and can use a Google tool to determine their polling place.
